Unlike the Mets, whose owner flew to Japan to meet with Yoshinobu Yamamoto and wasn’t shy about talking about it, the Red Sox have remained tight-lipped about their pursuit of the 25-year-old ace. But it has now been confirmed that team officials will be meeting with Yamamoto in person imminently. The Sox were already one 13 teams who talked with Yamamoto over Zoom, but they’re now just one of seven teams who are still in the running for his services, including the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, and Blue Jays. Whatever happens with Yamamoto, let’s hope it’s resolved soon, because his pending decision is apparently the reason why the team has not yet signed or traded for any other starting pitchers yet.
